FIRST AID TREATMENT FOR POISONING
In all cases of ingested poisons always call a PHYSICIAN or POISON CONTROL CENTER promptly.
BE PREPARED! Keep a bottle of SYRUP OF IPECAC in your medicine cabinet for emergency treatment of poisoning, this medication is used to cause vomiting and should be ADMINISTERED ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS OF YOUR PHYSICIAN. (Syrup of ipecac is available in one-ounce bottles from your pharmacist.)
1. SWALLOWED POISONS
A. Call a physician or Poison Control Center promptly.
B. Make patient vomit if so directed. BUT NOT IF:
• Patient is unconscious or in convulsions.
• Swallowed poison is a strong corrosive (lye, strong acid, drain cleaner, etc.).
• Swallowed poison contains kerosene, gasoline or other solvents.
• Swallowed poison contains a chemical that causes convulsions.
C. Do not waste time waiting for vomiting to occur, but take the patient promptly to a medical facility.
BRING PACKAGE OR CONTAINER of the poison, with the label intact.
2. FUMES OR GASES (fuel gases, auto exhaust, fumes from chemicals, etc.)
A. Remove victim to fresh air and loosen clothing.
B. If patient is not breathing, start artificial respiration promptly.
C. Call physician or Poison Control Center and take the victim to a medical facility promptly.
3. EYE
A. Gently wash eye out immediately, using plenty of water for five minutes with eyelids held open.
B. Remove contact lenses if worn; never permit the eye to be rubbed.
C. Call physician or Poison Control Center and transport victim to a medical facility if necessary.
4. SKIN (acids, lye, insecticides, other caustics, etc.)
A. Wash off skin immediately with a large amount of water; use soap if available.
B. Remove any contaminated clothing.
C. Call physician or Poison Control Center and take the victim to a medical facility if necessary.

ZYLOPRIM (Allopurinol)

INSTRUCTIONS
Zyloprim is the trade name of Allopurinol. It is used for the treatment of gout and other conditions associated with .too much uric acid in the blood. For instance, after frequent use of diuretics, kidneys may tend to retain uric acid, eventually causing gout.
Follow the instructions on the prescription exactly. Do not lake a larger or smaller dose of the medicine than the prescription tells you to. Unless the prescription tells you otherwise, take Zyloprim after meals while the stomach is still full. You should drink 10 or more glasses of fluids daily so thar’fhe amount of urine produced each day will be two quarts or .more. Follow your prescribed diet faithfully.
Take all the medicine prescribed, even if you feel much better before you have taken all of it. If you have an adverse reaction, stop using the medicine and contact your doctor.

PRECAUTIONS

You should not take iron while you are taking Zyloprim. Do not give any of this medicine to anyone else. If you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant, tell your doctor before you start taking Zyloprim, If you are a nursing mother, ask for special instructions.

Effective medicine may cause “side effects” in some people. New symptoms may be caused by the medicine, the original disorder, or a new illness that may develop. It is possible that Zyloprim may cause drowsiness, skin rashes, nausea or diarrhea. If you should develop any of these symptoms to an uncomfort-

This medicine should not cause any change in your degree of mental alertness or in the efficiency of your reflexes, so the medicine itself should not cause you to change your usual daily activities.

Keep this medicine in a tightly closed container in a dry, cool place away from heat or direct sunlight and out of reach of children. Don’t use the bathroom cabinet because humidity is high there. If you store medicine in the refrigerator, do not let it freeze. Don’t save left-over medicine to “use later.” Discard it on the expiration date shown on the container, but do so in a way that will protect children or pets—flush down the toilet, for example.

All refills must be ordered by your doctor, either in the first prescription or later. Only the pharmacy that originally filled this prescription can refill it If you go elsewhere, you must have a new prescription. WANS SUPPOSITORIES (Pyrilamine maleate, pentobarbital sodium)

INSTRUCTIONS
Wans is the trade name of a mixture of pyrilamine maleate and pentobarbital sodium. It is used for the symptomatic treatment of nausea and vomiting. It is intended as an aid to reduce troublesome symptoms; it is not expected to cure any disorder. Do not use this medicine if you know you are allergic to either of its components.
Follow the instructions on the prescription exactly. Do not use any more or any less of the medicine than the prescription tells you to. This medicine is given rectafly. Remove the wrapper and moisten with a little water; insert gently into the rectum with a finger.
In many cases it will not be necessary or desirable for you to use all of this medicine. Follow your doctor’s instructions exactly. If the symptoms for which the medicine was prescribed improve, or if you have any adverse reactions that you think may be caused by the medicine, stop using it and contact your doctor for further instructions.

Do not give any of this medicine to anyone else. If you have fever, an overactive thyroid gland, diabetes, or heart trouble, or if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant, tell your doctor before you start using Wans.

J OVERDOSAGE: WHAT TO DO
CALL THE DOCTOR OR ^___^ FOR HELP OR AN AMBULANCE. Then
give FIRST AID! The patient is unconscious or very drowsy: (a)
Not breathing: Try mouth-to-mouth breathing.
(b) No heart beat: Use cardiac massage if you know
how; hit the breast-bone hard with your fist.
(c) Don’t try to make him vomit, (d) If you can’t get
help, take the patient to the nearest qualified
Emergency facility.
The patient is alert: (a) Give milk {undiluted evaporated milk is best), (b) Try to induce vomiting with Syrup of Ipecac’ if available; otherwise push your finger far back in his throat. Try to save the vornit for tests. Next, give Activated Charcoal.” (c) If no professional help can be found, don’t wait. Take the patient to the nearest Emergency facility.

Use one suppository in the morning and at bedtime for three to six days or until the inflammation subsides. Unwrap the suppository, moisten it and gently push it up into the rectum with your finger.
